More and more, massage is receiving mainstream acceptance as an alternative to pain relieving medications. With the opioid crisis in America quickly reaching a boiling point, people are looking towards other viable options for pain relief. I’m particularly passionate about this as I have lost friends to this opioid crisis.
Most importantly in pain relief is movement, particularly of the areas of the body displaying chronic pain. For many though, movement is simply not enough. Massage therapy can help supplement an active lifestyle by allowing relief of chronic pain so you can continue to do the activities that you love. Deep tissue massage and myofascial release can loosen deep fascial structures that are otherwise hard to release my exercise and movement therapy alone.
In addition, getting a massage is simply one of the most stress relieving things there are. Human touch can have a remarkably healing effect. Once you get into the habit of getting massage regularly, it becomes something you look forward to the most. It’s one of the few things in life that you can indulge in and not feel guilty for afterwards because is has such a great benefit for your mind and body. How many others things in life feel so great, yet are so great for you?? Not many..
